SchoolConnects and Safe Arrival Program
The SchoolConnects SafeArrival Reporting system was implemented across the Thames Valley district in October 2016. The system allows parents and guardians to report student absences by phone, website or smartphone app and facilitates and expedites contact with parents with respect to student absences. The system also automatically sends SchoolConnects Portal invitations to new parents that have registered email addresses in the Student Administration System (Trillium).
If a student is absent for an unknown reason, the parent(s) will receive an automated communication via phone (cell and home numbers only) and email/text informing him/her of the student’s absence. The parent may then indicate the reason for the absence through the automated system if this communication was an oversight.
The SchoolsConnects system has features for broadcasting messages by voice or email to parent communities. These features are beneficial and are used by schools and the Education Centre when needed. Over all, the system has had a positive impact on the SafeArrival process across Thames Valley.
