This past fall the Intergenerational Choir was the proud recipient of a Pillar Community Award for community collaboration. The Pillar Awards are an annual event that salutes people and agencies that make the city of London better.
The Intergenerational Choir was the brainchild of the people at the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex. They turned to Medway High School with its excellent music program and to the Sisters of St. Joseph for support. Composed of teenagers, people with Alzheimer's, caregivers, and nuns - a remarkable choir was born. Since its launch in the fall of 2012, choir students at Medway have felt honoured to be part of this wonderful collaboration.
The program has been such a success, it has inspired other such choirs, including one that draws on students from the high school in Glencoe.
